The sailing trip occurred in the summer of
1999. Linworth students chartered a boat in Miami, FL, and sailed
across the Gulf Stream to Bimini (the Bahamas) and back in one week.
They conducted several fundraisers to help offset the costs of the
trip. Many carwashes were held in front of Linworth, and the OSU
Steel Drum Band was hired to provide musical entertainment for an
evening of tropical fun. Darts are the primary game of choice in
the Bahamas, so we had a darts tournament set up at Linworth that
evening, as well. The trip occurred in August, and we snorkeled
and visited a few small islands and a shipwreck during that week.
Linworth students included: Stephanie Ballam, Erin Chesnut, Rebecca
Jones, Diana Lafyatis, and Danny Puckett. As a result of this trip,
Danny decided to focus his walkabouts on the charter industry in
Miami, FL, and has been offered a job there this year.
